Niels joined Abbott in 2011 as Global Commercial Leader for a late-stage oncology program and following AbbVie’s separation from Abbott, has held several positions of increasing responsibility including Director and Head of Commercial Business Development for Oncology, Senior Director and Head of Search and Evaluation, Oncology, and most recently Vice President and Global Head of Search and Evaluation.

In his current role, Niels’ efforts focus on the identification and assessment of external partnering and investment opportunities that align with the company’s overarching areas of strategic interests, which are Immunology, Oncology, Neuro-Psych, Eye Care, and Specialty.

Prior to joining AbbVie, Niels was CEO of BioPheresis, co-founder and COO of immatics, and a strategic management consultant with McKinsey & Company.

Niels holds a Master’s in Biology and a Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of Tuebingen.
